Local 449 is a composite OPSEU/SEFPO local, representing members from two different bargaining units and two distinctive collective agreements. Spread across seven worksites, our members provide some of the most critically essential public services to the citizens and visitors of Renfrew and Fitzroy Harbour. Together, alongside 84 other OPSEU/SEFPO locals in eastern Ontario, we represent the collective interests of over 72,000 public service workers.

Our dedicated members play crucial roles in your community:
OPSEU/SEFPO is a dynamic organization representing approximately 180,000 unionized members throughout Ontario. Our diverse membership includes those employed by the Ontario government, community colleges, LCBO, healthcare sector, and various community agencies within the broader public sector.
The Unified Division of the Ontario Public Service (OPS) includes most OPSEU/SEFPO members working for the OPS, with the exception of the Corrections Division. At the provincial level, OPS Unified members are represented by the Central Employee Relations Committee (CERC) and Unified Bargaining Team.
Locally, members elect representatives to the Local Executive Committee (LEC) to engage with management and handle matters such as grievance hearings. LEC members are elected every two years by the general membership of the local, and any member with a union card is eligible to vote in or run for elections.
Renfrew OPSEU/SEFPO Local 449 proudly maintains affiliations with several prominent labor organizations, including the Renfrew and District Labour Council, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC)
